Dementia

It is a disorder of generalised brain dysfunction ranging from loss of memory,intelligence,insight and judgement.

Also impaired attention,concentration and loss of engagement in language skills.

These patients are good in remembering with remote events but not with recent events.

They display abnormalities in language(where they struggle with reading,writing,repetition,naming and fluency in speech).

They remain withdrawn with less engagement in conversations to no speech at all.

They can’t complete tasks and at most they don’t follow instructions in activities like cooking.

Increasingly become dependent in activities of daily living.

Loss of counting,including finances.

Becoming lost in familiar places and wandering around with no meaningful activities around them.

Loss of ability for personal care with increased need for continual supervision.
